Animal Themed Nursery

Is it time yet? When is it time? My little boy is turning 2 and I am about to embark on the all new Territory of a Big Boy Bed. yikes! So here I thought I would share the beautiful photos of the Nursery we put together for when he arrived into the world. Oh how they grow up so quickly and spaces can change like that..

For me this space is a sanctuary, the room was originally grey on all walls so to take it from cold and stark to warm and bright - mustards were introduced and wall paneling (thanks to my wonderful handy husband) to give it something else. I divided the room up into zones we could use and made sure there was a little reading nook as well as a chair for mum. Whilst providing further warmth with the layering of textures, colours, patterns and materials - adding a soft curtain to an otherwise bare white roman blind; these were the little details that made the room a sanctuary;

besides - wasn’t I using it as much as our little boy was? ;)

The room we were working with originally held a lot of cooler tones, so we added mustard pops and softened with draped curtains

For many late nights with Bubba, mum needs a comfortable place to rest her feet.

Nursing Chair

Creating moments within the space was important. Layers of textures and were incorporated to ensure the room was cosy and inviting

The ledge of the wall paneling acting as another small storage idea for small toys.

Change Table & Dresser

We wanted to incorporate my old childhood dresser in the Nursery, so we sanded the wood back, painted it in a soft white to match the paneling and added new Leather strapped handles.

Hints of the Jungle theme were added with Framed Animal photos Hung above the paneled wall.

The large Giraffe print acts as the focal point of the design - immediately letting you know the Animal Jungle theme for the nursery.

Book Library

A custom bookshelf was made for story time which fitted perfectly on the corner wall, not only being practical for storage, but becoming a wall feature as well.
